Ribosomal protein L12 pseudogene 3 (RPL12P3) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome. Pseudogenes such as RPL12P3 result from duplication or retrotransposition events involving the parent gene, in this case ribosomal protein L12 (RPL12). However, unlike the original protein-coding gene, RPL12P3 is generally considered nonfunctional, does not contribute to ribosome assembly or protein synthesis, and is not expressed as a functional protein product. There are no known therapeutic roles, disease associations, or direct drug interactions for this pseudogene.
