RPL13P2 (Ribosomal protein L13 pseudogene 2) is a processed pseudogene corresponding to the functional ribosomal protein L13 gene (RPL13)[10][2]. Pseudogenes like RPL13P2 do not produce functional proteins due to accumulated disabling mutations, but some have regulatory roles, such as acting as microRNA sponges or engaging in RNA interference pathways that can modulate their parent gene expression[5][8][12]. RPL13P2 is one of many distributed ribosomal protein pseudogenes in the human genome and is not involved in canonical therapeutic targeting or protein-coding function[10].
