Ribosomal protein L13a pseudogene 18 (RPL13AP18) is a non-coding processed pseudogene in the human genome. It does not produce a functional protein and has no known physiological or therapeutic role. It is one of several pseudogenes arising from the RPL13A gene, which codes for ribosomal protein L13a, a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit. Pseudogenes like RPL13AP18 are typically regarded as genetically silent, although exceptions exist in rare cases. All known biological, disease, and drug-interaction functions pertain to the gene RPL13A and its protein product, not the pseudogene RPL13AP18[4][5][6].
