Overview

Ribosomal protein L13a pseudogene 19 is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, designated RPL13AP19 (NCBI Gene ID: 100132924, Ensembl ID: ENSG00000228754)[4][6]. It does not encode a functional protein and is not expressed or associated with any known biological function or disease mechanism. Pseudogenes such as RPL13AP19 arise from duplication or retrotransposition of functional genes (in this case, RPL13A), but they typically lack regulatory components or contain disruptive mutations that prevent them from producing active proteins. While its parent gene, ribosomal protein L13a (RPL13A), is involved in ribosome function and the GAIT complex-mediated translational control of inflammation[1][3][5], RPL13AP19 itself has no known role in cellular processes or diseases, nor is it a target for drug therapies.
