Ribosomal protein L15 pseudogene 18 (RPL15P18)

Ribosomal protein L15 pseudogene 18 (RPL15P18) is a processed pseudogene that shares sequence similarity with the ribosomal protein L15 gene but does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes are genetic elements that arise from duplication or retrotransposition of functional genes but accumulate mutations that prevent expression of a functional protein product. RPL15P18 is one of several dispersed pseudogenes for ribosomal protein L15[2][13][11]. There is currently no evidence for a biological role, involvement in disease, or drug interactions for this pseudogene. RPL15P18 is not considered a therapeutic target and may be ignored for medicinal chemistry or pharmacology research purposes. Any use as a target or biomarker would be unsupported by current database and literature evidence[13][2][11].
