Target intelligence / Profile preview
Ribosomal protein L17 pseudogene 49 (RPL17P49) is a processed pseudogene of the ribosomal protein L17 gene distributed throughout the human genome. Unlike the functional ribosomal protein L17 (RPL17), which is an essential component of the 60S ribosomal subunit and involved in protein synthesis[1][5], pseudogenes such as RPL17P49 do not encode functional proteins and lack direct biological or disease associations. They are generally considered non-functional remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition and are not recognized as therapeutic targets or biomarkers[3][4].
