RPL19P16 (Ribosomal protein L19 pseudogene 16) is a processed pseudogene identified in the human genome and is related by sequence to RPL19, which encodes a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit[1][3][5]. Pseudogenes such as RPL19P16 do not encode functional proteins: they arise from retrotransposition or duplication events of functional ribosomal protein genes and typically do not retain the regulatory elements or open reading frames necessary for gene expression[6]. As a result, RPL19P16 is not considered a therapeutic target, does not participate in protein synthesis, and has no known role in disease, biological function, or drug interaction.
