Ribosomal protein L21 pseudogene 110 (RPL21P110) is a human processed pseudogene located on chromosome 13 (genomic position: 13:72,703,692-72,704,138), derived from the gene encoding ribosomal protein L21[4][6][13]. Unlike its parental gene, which encodes a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit essential for protein synthesis, RPL21P110 is a genomic sequence that resembles RPL21 but is nonfunctional and does not contribute to ribosome structure or cellular processes. Pseudogenes such as RPL21P110 are common throughout the genome, arising through gene duplication or retrotransposition events, and typically do not participate in biological pathways, disease mechanisms, or therapeutic interventions[5][7][13][12].
