Overview

Ribosomal protein L21 pseudogene 2 (RPL21P2) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome related to the gene encoding ribosomal protein L21[4][6]. Unlike the functional RPL21 gene, which encodes a structural component of the ribosomal 60S subunit involved in protein synthesis, RPL21P2 does not produce a functional protein. The existence of multiple processed pseudogenes (including RPL21P2) is typical for ribosomal protein gene families[1][4][5][7]. RPL21P2 is catalogued in literature and gene databases by synonyms such as RPL21_65_1679 and bA352D3.1, but it is not a therapeutic target, does not encode a druggable protein product, and has no direct involvement in disease or drug interactions.
