Ribosomal protein L21 pseudogene 24 (RPL21P24) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, derived from the protein-coding parent gene RPL21. It arose through the reverse transcription of mRNA and subsequent integration of non-functional copies into the genome. Pseudogenes such as RPL21P24 do not encode functional proteins and lack biological or therapeutic activity. While its parent gene, ribosomal protein L21, is involved in ribosome assembly and protein synthesis, RPL21P24 itself is not expressed and has no known biological function or disease association.
