Ribosomal protein L21 pseudogene 52 (RPL21P52) is classified as a *pseudogene* referring to a non-functional segment of DNA that is similar to a functional gene—in this case, ribosomal protein L21 (RPL21)[1][7]. Pseudogenes generally do not encode functional proteins owing to mutations or lack of regulatory elements required for their expression. RPL21P52 is identified in the human genome, and alternative aliases such as RPL21_16_474 are used in various genomic resources[7]. As a pseudogene, RPL21P52 is not a therapeutic target, does not encode an active enzyme or receptor, and thus has no known biological functions, disease roles, or drug interactions. The canonical, functional gene for ribosomal protein L21 is RPL21, which encodes a structural component of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[4][6]. RPL21P52 does not produce the functional ribosomal protein and is not relevant for therapeutic targeting.
