Target intelligence / Profile preview
RPL21P54 is a processed pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein L21 gene through retrotransposition. As a pseudogene, it does not encode a functional protein and is not considered a therapeutic target. It represents an evolutionary remnant of the functional RPL21 gene that has accumulated disabling mutations over time. While the parent gene RPL21 is essential for ribosome function and protein synthesis, RPL21P54 itself has no known biological function and is not associated with any diseases or therapeutic applications.
