Ribosomal protein L21 pseudogene 55 (RPL21P55) is a processed pseudogene found on the human genome, annotated as ENSG00000239870. While ribosomal protein L21 (RPL21) encodes a structural component of the 60S subunit of the cytoplasmic ribosome and is essential for protein synthesis, RPL21P55 itself does not encode a functional protein. There are no reported biological activities, disease associations, or therapeutic relevance for this pseudogene[1][3][5][8]. As with many ribosomal protein genes, there are multiple processed pseudogenes related to RPL21, but current data do not indicate that RPL21P55 has functional, clinical, or pharmacological significance in humans[8][7].
