Ribosomal protein L22-like 1 pseudogene (RPL22L1P)

Target
RPL22L1P
Molecular classification
Other (pseudogene)
01

Overview

The ribosomal protein L22-like 1 pseudogene is a genomic sequence resembling the protein-coding RPL22L1 gene but does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes are non-functional remnants of genes and do not serve as direct therapeutic targets or encode biologically active molecules. The functional RPL22L1 gene encodes a paralog of ribosomal protein L22 and has been implicated in promoting cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, drug resistance, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition through MAPK/ERK activation; however, the pseudogene itself has no established biological function or disease relevance as a target.
