Ribosomal protein L22 pseudogene 8 (RPL22P8)

RPL22P8 is one of multiple processed pseudogenes of the ribosomal protein L22 gene, which are dispersed throughout the human genome[2][4]. Pseudogenes such as RPL22P8 are non-functional copies of protein-coding genes and do not produce functional proteins. While RPL22 (the parental gene) encodes a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis, RPL22P8 itself does not have a defined biological role, function, or relevance as a molecular drug target[2][4]. There is no evidence supporting its direct involvement in disease, nor is it known to interact with therapeutic compounds.
