Overview

**Ribosomal protein L23a pseudogene 19 (RPL23AP19)** is a human processed pseudogene related to the RPL23A gene, which encodes a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[4]. Like most ribosomal protein pseudogenes, RPL23AP19 is a non-functional genomic sequence that shares high sequence similarity with its parental gene but does not code for a functional protein[3][4]. These pseudogenes are numerous in the human genome, and while some ribosomal protein pseudogenes have been studied for potential regulatory roles, there is no evidence that RPL23AP19 serves a therapeutic, biomarker, or functional role in health or disease. It is not considered a drug target, nor does it encode a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or signaling molecule.
