Processed pseudogenes like RPL23AP29 do not encode functional proteins and, unlike canonical ribosomal proteins, are not involved in ribosome assembly, signaling, or cellular processes. There are no reports linking RPL23AP29 to disease, therapeutic intervention, or biomarker relevance. It is important to distinguish this pseudogene from functional ribosomal proteins, particularly RPL23a, which play key roles in translation and have been studied in cancer biology. RPL23AP29 itself, however, has no recognized biological or therapeutic significance.
