Ribosomal protein L23a pseudogene 4 (RPL23AP4) is a processed pseudogene found in the human genome. It is among a large number of pseudogenes related to the ribosomal protein L23a gene (RPL23A), which encodes a structural component of the 60S ribosomal subunit in active protein synthesis machinery. However, RPL23AP4 itself does not encode a functional protein and has no described biological activity or role in pathology or therapy. The function and significance of this pseudogene remain uncharacterized in scientific literature, and there is no evidence that it serves as a drug target, biomarker, or has clinical relevance[5].
