Ribosomal protein L23a pseudogene 7 (RPL23AP7) is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L23a gene family. Pseudogenes such as RPL23AP7 are non-protein-coding sequences that resemble functional genes but typically lack the ability to produce functional proteins. RPL23AP7 is one of many ribosomal protein L23a pseudogenes dispersed throughout the human genome[2][3][4]. These pseudogenes may serve as templates for regulatory RNAs or participate in gene expression regulation through RNA-based mechanisms, but they are not protein-coding or classical drug targets. There is no evidence associating RPL23AP7 itself with disease or drug response, in contrast to some reports about other pseudogenes in this family (such as RPL23AP53[6]) which may be differentially expressed in cancer and investigated as potential RNA biomarkers. No drugs are known to interact with RPL23AP7 or target it for therapeutic intervention.
