RPL23AP70 is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L23a gene, located on human chromosome 14. It does not code for a functional protein product. Like most pseudogenes, it is presumed to arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and typically lacks biological function. There is currently no evidence that RPL23AP70 is involved in disease, drug interactions, or established biological pathways. In the broader context, some ribosomal protein pseudogenes have emerged as regulators of gene expression (e.g., by sequestering microRNAs), but no such role has been published specifically for RPL23AP70. Note: You may see some literature on other ribosomal protein L23a pseudogenes (such as RPL23AP53), which should not be confused with RPL23AP70.
