Ribosomal protein L24 pseudogene 5 (RPL24P5) is a genomic region in humans classified as a pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L24. Unlike its protein-coding counterpart RPL24, RPL24P5 does not produce a functional protein and does not participate in cellular processes such as ribosome assembly or protein synthesis. Pseudogenes like RPL24P5 are typically remnants of evolutionary gene duplication or retrotransposition events and serve as markers of genome architecture but do not have direct biological or therapeutic significance[7].
