Ribosomal protein L26 pseudogene 11 (RPL26P11) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, sharing high sequence similarity with the functional ribosomal protein L26 gene (RPL26)[4][3]. Pseudogenes like RPL26P11 do not encode functional proteins due to disabling mutations. While historically considered “junk DNA,” some pseudogenes may be transcribed and play roles as regulatory non-coding RNAs influencing the expression of other genes, sometimes involved in disease states such as cancer, although direct function for RPL26P11 itself is not demonstrated[6][8]. This entity is not a receptor, enzyme, or other conventional drug target, and there is no evidence it is directly targeted by any drugs nor used as a biomarker.
