Pseudogenes are segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but typically lack the capacity to encode proteins due to mutations or truncations. RPL26P15 does not produce a functional protein or play a direct biological or therapeutic role. While the parent gene, RPL26, encodes a component of the large (60S) ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis and p53 regulation, RPL26P15 has no established biological function, disease relevance, or therapeutic potential[1][3][7].
