Ribosomal protein L26 pseudogene 28 (RPL26P28) is a human processed pseudogene found on chromosome 10p15.1[6][7][8]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but typically non-functional; they do not encode functional proteins, and in most cases, are not transcribed or translated. RPL26P28 shares sequence similarity to ribosomal protein L26 (RPL26), which is a component of the large ribosomal 60S subunit involved in protein synthesis, but RPL26P28 does not code for an active ribosomal protein[1][8]. There is no evidence that RPL26P28 is involved in regulatory, disease, or drug response processes. In summary, RPL26P28 is a non-coding genetic element classified as a pseudogene, with no known molecular function, therapeutic targeting, or clinical biomarker use.
