While its sequence closely resembles that of functional ribosomal protein genes, it does not encode a functional protein and is not involved in protein synthesis or any currently recognized biological process or disease pathway[2][6]. RPL27P6 has no current relevance as a drug target or biomarker. The naming convention follows the standard pseudogene nomenclature, with "P" designating pseudogenes derived from ribosomal protein parent genes.
