Ribosomal protein L27 pseudogene 9 (RPL27P9) is a processed pseudogene of the ribosomal protein L27 gene family, found in the human genome as a non-functional sequence resembling the coding gene RPL27. Like other ribosomal protein pseudogenes, it is not believed to encode a functional protein or play a direct biological role, and is not considered a therapeutic target[2][10]. Pseudogenes such as this are common for ribosomal proteins, arising from retrotransposition or gene duplication events that generate nonfunctional gene copies scattered across the genome[3][4][6][7][10].
