RPL29P12 (ribosomal protein L29 pseudogene 12) is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome[5][10]. Unlike functional genes, pseudogenes are typically non-coding DNA sequences that resemble known genes but lack the ability to encode functional proteins due to mutations or truncations. RPL29P12 does not produce a functional protein and, as such, is not involved in any known biological processes, disease roles, drug interactions, or clinical biomarker applications. It is related by sequence homology to the ribosomal protein L29 (RPL29) gene, which encodes a constituent protein of the large (60S) subunit of cytoplasmic ribosomes, important for protein synthesis[1]. However, the pseudogene itself has no established biological or clinical function[5].
