RPL29P19 (ribosomal protein L29 pseudogene 19) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome derived from the functional ribosomal protein L29 (RPL29) gene. Pseudogenes like RPL29P19 result from the duplication or retrotransposition of functional gene sequences but usually lack the ability to produce active proteins, except in rare cases where novel regulatory or coding functions have evolved. In standard clinical, biological, and pharmacological contexts, RPL29P19 is neither expressed nor considered a biologically relevant molecule, receptor, drug target, or biomarker. Its parent gene, RPL29, encodes a peripheral membrane ribosomal protein involved in the structure and function of the large (60S) ribosomal subunit, but the pseudogene itself is essentially a genomic remnant without recognized impact on protein synthesis, disease, or medical intervention.
