Ribosomal protein L29 pseudogene 23 (RPL29P23) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome derived from the functional RPL29 gene. Like most ribosomal protein pseudogenes, it does not generate a functional protein product and has no established biological or disease-associated roles. There is no evidence implicating it as a therapeutic or diagnostic target. Its presence reflects the widespread pseudogenization of ribosomal protein genes in mammalian genomes[4][5][7]. Note: Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they often result from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and generally do not produce functional proteins or RNAs. RPL29P23 is not listed in resources as having any known biological activity or clinical relevance[4][5].
