Overview

Ribosomal protein L29 pseudogene 27 (RPL29P27) is a processed pseudogene of the human ribosomal protein L29 gene. It is annotated in genomic databases and may share sequence homology with RPL29, but does not produce a functional protein product and does not participate directly in biochemical pathways. There is currently no evidence of transcription, translation, or involvement in biological or disease processes for RPL29P27. Pseudogenes such as RPL29P27 are common in the genome and generally do not have therapeutic significance[7]. The functional gene, RPL29, encodes a ribosomal protein involved in protein synthesis; its pseudogenes like RPL29P27 do not fulfill this function and are not considered drug targets[1][5][7]. If structured target data are required for research, RPL29P27 should be annotated as a pseudogene and flagged as not being a canonical therapeutic target.
