Ribosomal protein L29 pseudogene 30 (RPL29P30) is a non-functional copy of the ribosomal protein L29 gene dispersed in the human genome. Pseudogenes like RPL29P30 do not encode an active protein product and, therefore, lack biological function or clinical relevance as therapeutic targets. The functional gene, RPL29, encodes a structural protein of the 60S ribosomal subunit that is involved in protein synthesis, but RPL29P30 is not translated or directly involved in any cellular process.
