Ribosomal protein L29 pseudogene 33 (RPL29P33) is a non-coding processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L29 gene (RPL29), which encodes a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit responsible for protein synthesis in the cytoplasm. Pseudogenes like RPL29P33 arise from functional genes but have lost their protein-coding ability due to mutations and are typically transcriptionally inactive. There is no evidence that RPL29P33 encodes a protein, functions as a therapeutic target, or plays a role in disease. Multiple processed pseudogenes of ribosomal protein genes, including that of RPL29, are dispersed throughout the genome.
