Pseudogenes such as RPL29P34 are typically generated by gene duplication or retrotransposition and dispersed throughout the genome. They do not serve as targets for drugs or play direct roles in disease or functional cellular pathways[2]. RPL29P34 should not be confused with the functional gene RPL29 (ribosomal protein L29), which encodes a structural protein component of the 60S ribosomal subunit and is important for protein synthesis in cells[1][3][6][7]. The designation RPL29P34 specifically denotes a pseudogene, and thus it is not biological or therapeutic target.
