RPL3P1 is a processed pseudogene in humans and mice, known as ribosomal protein L3 pseudogene 1[4]. Pseudogenes are non-functional segments of DNA that arise from functional genes but typically lack regulatory elements or have sequence changes that prevent normal expression or the production of a functional protein. RPL3P1 shares sequence similarity with the protein-coding *RPL3* gene, which encodes a core component of the ribosomal 60S large subunit. However, RPL3P1 itself does not produce a ribosomal protein or have a characterized molecular function. It is not classified as a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target. There are no known drugs, disease associations, or safety concerns related to RPL3P1, and it is not used as a biomarker.
