Ribosomal protein L3 pseudogene 13 (RPL3P13) is a human processed pseudogene related to the functional ribosomal protein L3 gene (RPL3). The genuine RPL3 gene encodes a key component of the ribosomal 60S subunit that is involved in protein synthesis and has multiple functional and disease associations[3][5]. However, RPL3P13 does not encode a functional protein; its sequence derives from retrotransposition or duplication events involving RPL3 but lacks regulatory elements necessary for proper transcription and translation[5][6]. Pseudogenes such as RPL3P13 are not generally expressed or functional, and are not considered therapeutic targets, even though the parent gene (RPL3) may have associations with ribosomal activity and some diseases[3][5][6]. There is no evidence for RPL3P13 being involved in cellular functions, disease, or drug interactions. Therefore, this entry should not be interpreted as a canonical target for drug discovery or receptor research.
