Pseudogenes are genetic elements that resemble functional genes but typically have lost their protein-coding ability due to accumulated mutations or truncations and are not expressed as functional proteins[4]. There is no evidence that RPL30P14 produces a functional protein, nor is it classified as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other drug discovery target. The parental RPL30 gene encodes a cytoplasmic ribosomal protein that is a component of the large 60S subunit and is involved in protein synthesis, but this function does not apply to RPL30P14[1][3].
