RPL30P3 is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L30 gene (RPL30). Pseudogenes like RPL30P3 arise from genomic DNA sequences that resemble functional genes but lack the ability to code for full-length, functional proteins, often due to the absence of necessary regulatory elements, frameshifts, or disruptions in coding regions. Unlike its protein-coding parental gene, RPL30P3 does not produce a functional ribosomal protein and does not participate directly in ribosomal function or known regulatory pathways. There is currently no evidence in the scientific literature that RPL30P3 plays a direct role in human disease, drug interactions, or serves as a biomarker, and it is not considered a drug or therapeutic target. Most references to RPL30P3 are as part of genome annotation indicating processed pseudogenes of the ribosomal protein gene family.
