Overview

Ribosomal protein L30 pseudogene 5 (RPL30P5) is a processed pseudogene related to the ribosomal protein L30 gene family[2][8][10]. Unlike its parent gene, which encodes a component of the large 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[4][7], RPL30P5 does not produce a functional protein and is not transcribed into active ribosomal protein—it is an inactive DNA sequence, the result of a past duplication and retrotransposition event[1][2][11]. As a processed pseudogene, RPL30P5 lacks biological function and is not considered a therapeutic target. There are no known disease roles, drug interactions, or biomarker relevance for this pseudogene. Its presence is a common genomic feature of ribosomal protein gene families, which often have many such pseudogenes distributed throughout the genome[2][10][11].
