Ribosomal protein L30 pseudogene 6 (RPL30P6) is a processed pseudogene of the RPL30 gene, which encodes a component of the 60S large ribosomal subunit. Processed pseudogenes, such as RPL30P6, arise through the reverse transcription and insertion of mRNA from functional genes into the genome, but they generally lack regulatory elements and are non-functional. RPL30P6 does not produce a functional protein and is not currently known to have a role in disease or as a drug target. It serves primarily as a genomic marker of past retrotransposition events, characteristic of many ribosomal protein gene families[5][6].
