Ribosomal protein L31 pseudogene 13 (RPL31P13) is a human pseudogene annotated in databases such as NCBI Gene (100270983) and Ensembl (ENSG00000228646)[2][11]. Pseudogenes like RPL31P13 are genomic sequences similar to known genes (in this case, ribosomal protein L31, which is a constituent of the ribosome), but typically lack the ability to encode a functional protein due to disabling mutations and/or incomplete gene sequences. The canonical, functional ribosomal protein L31 is a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit, an essential part of cellular protein synthesis machinery[3], but RPL31P13 does not produce this protein. Therefore, RPL31P13 is not a druggable target and does not participate in protein synthesis or other defined biological pathways relevant to therapeutic targeting[2][11].
