Ribosomal protein L31 pseudogene 28 (RPL31P28) is a processed pseudogene of the ribosomal protein L31 gene family in the human genome[2][4]. Unlike functional ribosomal protein genes, pseudogenes like RPL31P28 are generally non-coding and do not produce functional proteins. They are derived from ancestral ribosomal protein genes but have lost the ability to encode proteins due to mutations or truncations[2][4].
