Ribosomal protein L31 pseudogene 39 (RPL31P39) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome, derived from the ribosomal protein L31 gene family. It does not code for a functional protein and has no known physiological or pathological role. This designation is mostly a genomic annotation, indicating sequence similarity to the parent gene RPL31, but lacking protein-coding capacity or biological function. The human genome contains many processed pseudogenes of ribosomal protein genes generated by retrotransposition processes, which do not produce functional proteins and are not therapeutic targets[5][7].
