Overview

Ribosomal protein L31 pseudogene 6 (RPL31P6) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome. It does not encode a functional protein. The canonical gene, RPL31, encodes a structural protein of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis[3][4][7]. RPL31P6, however, is a non-protein-coding sequence derived from duplication or retrotransposition of the functional RPL31 gene, and there is no evidence that it plays any direct biological or pathological role. It is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or participant in known drug interactions[6]. Notes: - RPL31P6 is a pseudogene: it is not a protein, receptor, enzyme, or an established therapeutic target. - There is no concrete evidence it functions as a biomarker or is involved in disease. - RPL31, the parent gene, is a ribosomal protein with known roles in protein synthesis and association with diseases like Diamond-Blackfan anemia[7], but RPL31P6 itself does not share these roles. - The entry is "incorrect" for most therapeutic target curation, as pseudogenes are generally not considered druggable or functional targets[6].
