Ribosomal protein L31 pseudogene 62 (RPL31P62) is a human pseudogene corresponding to the ribosomal protein L31 gene[1][4][5][8]. Pseudogenes are stretches of DNA that resemble functional genes but are typically non-coding and do not encode functional proteins. While some pseudogenes can be transcribed and in rare cases may be translated into peptides, the majority—including RPL31P62—are generally considered non-functional and do not serve as direct therapeutic targets[2][8]. The parent gene, RPL31, is a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit, but RPL31P62 itself does not encode a functional ribosomal protein and has no known roles in disease, drug interaction, or as a biomarker[1][4][8]. There is no evidence that RPL31P62 acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other typical drug target class.
