Ribosomal protein L32 pseudogene 15 (RPL32P15)

Target
RPL32P15
Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene), Pseudogene of ribosomal protein family
01

Overview

Ribosomal protein L32 pseudogene 15 (RPL32P15) is a processed pseudogene corresponding to the ribosomal protein L32 gene family. Unlike its parental gene, RPL32, which encodes a structural protein of the 60S ribosomal subunit, RPL32P15 is believed to be non-functional and does not produce a protein product. Processed pseudogenes are non-coding genomic DNA sequences derived from reverse-transcribed mRNA reintegrated into the genome; they generally lack introns and possess sequence similarity with their functional ancestors but are not transcribed or translated into a protein. There are no reports of this pseudogene serving as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, transcription factor, or any other classical druggable target, nor is there evidence of involvement in signaling, disease processes, or drug interaction.
