Overview

Ribosomal protein L32 pseudogene 19 is a processed pseudogene related to the functional ribosomal protein L32 gene (RPL32), which encodes a component of the 60S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis. Pseudogenes like RPL32P19 do not encode functional proteins and are generally considered non-coding, though some pseudogenes elsewhere in the genome have been shown to exert regulatory roles as RNA molecules in specific contexts. There is no current evidence that RPL32P19 plays such a regulatory role or is implicated in disease or drug response. Pseudogenes with similar naming (such as RPL32P3) have been reported to potentially play regulatory roles (for example, in the regulation of the blood–tumor barrier in glioma via RNA-mediated effects). However, there is no evidence in the current literature that RPL32P19 (specifically the 19th pseudogene) has described functions, disease associations, or therapeutic relevance. The parent gene RPL32 is a ribosomal protein involved in protein synthesis and has been linked to rare genetic disorders, but not its pseudogene variants. RPL32P19 is a non-coding pseudogene derived from the ribosomal protein L32 gene, has no known biological function or therapeutic relevance, and there are no data supporting its role as a drug target or disease biomarker.
