Overview

Ribosomal protein L32 pseudogene 21 (RPL32P21) is a human pseudogene that is related to the ribosomal protein L32 gene family[7][8][2]. Unlike functional protein-coding genes, pseudogenes like RPL32P21 are generally considered nonfunctional DNA segments that arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and usually lack protein-coding capacity. There is no evidence to support a role for RPL32P21 as a therapeutic target, as it does not encode an active ribosomal protein or demonstrate direct biological, disease, or pharmacological functions. Its main relevance is as a genomic element and as a member of the broader ribosomal protein L32 gene family, which does contain functional genes such as RPL32. There are no known drugs, biomarkers, or clinical safety considerations directly associated with this pseudogene[7][8].
