Ribosomal protein L32 pseudogene 26 (RPL32P26) is a human pseudogene, meaning it is a DNA sequence similar to a functional gene (ribosomal protein L32, RPL32) but is non-functional and does not code for a protein. Pseudogenes such as RPL32P26 are genomic residues of once-functional genes, generated through gene duplication or retrotransposition. While the parental gene RPL32 encodes a component of the ribosomal 60S subunit, RPL32P26 itself is not translated or involved in ribosome structure or function. Unlike functional ribosomal proteins, RPL32P26 does not participate in cellular processes or diseases and has no known drug interactions or biological effects. It serves mainly as a genomic marker and can be useful in comparative genomics but is not considered a therapeutic target or biomarker.
