Overview

Ribosomal protein L32 pseudogene 27 (RPL32P27) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome related to the ribosomal protein L32 (RPL32) gene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but typically nonfunctional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements. RPL32P27 does not encode a functional protein, and there is no evidence for its role in normal physiology or disease. While some ribosomal protein pseudogenes may have regulatory roles or be transcribed in a tissue-specific fashion, no specific functional or disease association has been reported for RPL32P27. This entity is a pseudogene, not a ribosomal protein, receptor, enzyme, or other classical drug target. It is distinguished from the functional ribosomal protein L32 (RPL32), which is a component of the large ribosomal subunit and essential for protein synthesis. Some ribosomal protein pseudogenes (like RPL32P3 or RPSAP52) have been studied for possible regulatory roles or disease associations, but there is currently no such evidence or literature for RPL32P27 specifically. RPL32P27 is a noncoding pseudogene homologous to RPL32, not a therapeutic target, and lacks direct biological, clinical, or pharmacological significance. Any use as a biomarker, mechanism of action, interacting drug, or safety concern is unsupported and should be considered invalid for this gene.
