RPL34 pseudogene (including RPL34P7) is a non-protein-coding genomic sequence derived from the ribosomal protein L34 gene. Pseudogenes such as these do not encode functional proteins but are processed or duplicated segments scattered throughout the genome. Their biological function is generally minimal or unknown, although some pseudogenes may influence gene regulation through non-coding RNA processes. There is no evidence that RPL34 pseudogenes function as therapeutic targets; only the canonical protein-coding RPL34 gene is structurally and functionally part of the ribosome[1][2][5][6]. The functions and medical relevance of ribosomal protein pseudogenes are still largely uncharacterized, and their inclusion as drug targets is incorrect in structured biological datasets[3]. RPL34P7 (ribosomal protein L34 pseudogene) is not a therapeutic target, but rather a nonfunctional pseudogene with unclear biological significance; it should not be confused with the parent gene RPL34, which encodes a ribosomal protein.
